New Clubhouse Update

Stories from the Course

April 24, 2026

Going into the fall of of 2025 one of the most talked about subjects was a proposal from the Board of the Katepwa Beach Golf Club to the members regarding the building of a new clubhouse.
The members responding to a survey were strongly in favour of pursuing the idea. The board had committed to an open process and to return to membership for approval once
a design had been costed.
The Board has indicated that they are not at a fully costed stage yet, but it is getting closer.
Literally hundreds of hours have been spent on the project to date by the board, the architects, a volunteer project manager and the general manager of the club.
Input from representatives of three user groups were incorporated into the design process.

After much debate, some hair pulling, some consuming of adult beverages and some compromise the board approved a final layout.
This was sent to the Architect who took his initial design and the layout, then turned it into a document that met all the rules and specifications required. (And there are more then you might think.)
Along the way several other details had to completed. The list below summarizes work that has been completed.

.1 Topographic Survey Prepared by Midwest Survey, dated 6 January 2026
.2 Energy Modelling Data Prepared by Red Pelican, dated 4 March 2026
.3 Geotechnical Data Prepared by Ground Engineering Consultants, dated 16 December 2025
.4 Funding negotiations completed with a financial institution January 2026
.5 Final Drawings and Request for Proposal document Prepared by Alton Tangedal Architect, dated 20 March 2026
.6 Request for Proposals were released through the Saskatchewan Construction Association. A communication was sent to members to make local contractors and suppliers aware.
To date we have had very good interest from contractors and local suppliers.

So what’s next?
Proposals close at the end of April and then there is a 60 day negotiation period that will end with hard numbers for the cost of construction.
Once this is received the board will make a determination if the project is financially feasible. If it is, approval of the membership will be solicited.
That brings you up to date. Further planning will proceed once membership has spoken.
